The Best File Format for Sticker Printing (PDF, SVG, PNG)

2026-08-13

Why print-ready sticker files are PDFs, what SVG and PNG are good for, and the resolution, colour and bleed settings that avoid reprints.

PDF is the production format

A PDF can hold your raster artwork and the vector cut line in one document, with an explicit page size in millimetres and a defined colour mode. That is exactly what a printer needs, which is why PDF is the export format offered here.

Where PNG fits

PNG is the best input format. It supports true transparency, has no lossy compression artefacts, and gives the contour tracer clean edges to follow. Export at 300 DPI at the size you plan to print.

Avoid JPEG for sticker artwork: its compression creates coloured fringes around edges that turn into wobbly contours.

Colour: RGB or CMYK
